The machine exhibits an intermittent issue affecting movement on the X-axis during camera positioning. On occasion, a slight jitter or vibration is observed, which can prevent the vision system from reliably locating the PCB fiducial during initial board loading or machine initialisation. The fault is intermittent and does not occur consistently. Most of the time, reloading the PCB allows operation to continue normally. Occasionally, a machine restart is required.
The root cause has not been determined, but the issue appears to be associated with the X-axis motion control system. Potential areas for investigation include the servo amplifier (drive), encoder, encoder cable or other associated motion control components. Despite this intermittent behaviour, the machine was used in active production of complex PCB assemblies, including fine-pitch BGA boards, for approximately 12 months prior to being replaced as part of an equipment upgrade. The machine is therefore offered for sale on the understanding that diagnosis and repair of this intermittent fault is outstanding.
