The channels reduce overall contact area, lowering friction and preventing suction/sticking. Debris & Pitch Clearance: Sawdust, wood resin, and pitch buildup can cause uneven heights or feeding jams. Grooves act as evacuation paths, allowing fine dust and pitch to fall away from the main bearing surface. Wax/Lubricant Distribution: When paired with an automatic or manual bed lubrication system (such as table lubrication pumps), the grooves help distribute wax/oil evenly across the table rather than letting it wipe away on the first board.
