The units were delivered for concentrate thickening at a biogas plant in southern France, were preserved at the factory, and have never been operated productively. The evaporators can be purchased individually or as a package. Scope of delivery: 1x Main evaporator, distillate output approx. 55 m³/day 2x Evaporator Type 12,000, distillate output each approx. 12 m³/day Total capacity in combination: up to approx. 79 m³/day Operating principle: The evaporators operate under vacuum at a low boiling temperature. An integrated heat pump recovers the evaporation heat, which is why the energy requirement is significantly lower than with conventional thermal evaporation. The wastewater is separated into two streams: a distillate with low residual load and a thickened concentrate with a greatly reduced volume. An integrated acid reaction binds ammonia as an ammonium sulfate solution. This solution can be used as a liquid nitrogen fertilizer. Typical applications: Biogas plants: Treatment of fermentation residue and digestate, recovery of nitrogen as ammonium sulfate fertilizer, reduction of storage and application volume Composting and waste treatment plants: Thickening of leachate from storage areas and composting processes Agriculture: Volume reduction of slurry and storage basin water, nutrient recovery Food and beverage industry: Thickening of organically contaminated process wastewater, for example from dairies, breweries or juice and vegetable processing Concentrate treatment: Further thickening of concentrates from reverse osmosis or membrane filtration with organic and nitrogenous loads Reduce disposal costs: Instead of disposing of the entire wastewater externally, only the thickened concentrate is now disposed of. The distillate can be reused or discharged after further treatment. Not suitable for: The evaporators are designed for organically and ammonium-contaminated wastewater. They are not intended for saline water such as seawater, brine, drilling fluids, reservoir water or heavily chloride-contaminated industrial wastewater. High salt and chloride loads lead to crystallization and scale formation on the heat exchanger surfaces and increase the risk of corrosion. For such applications, RIEFILT offers suitable alternatives on request. Note on distillate quality: Depending on the inflow, the distillate may contain residual levels of ammonium and COD. For discharge or reuse, RIEFILT offers suitable post-treatment via reverse osmosis.
