MAX Photonics
MAX Photonics was established in 2004. It is rooted in manufacturing light and optics sources for research institutes, where the quality and stability of the products are of paramount importance. The company quickly realized that the future of laser technology is firmly tied to fiber optics. Research and development started in 2007 resulted in the release of their first 500 CW source in 2014. Since then, the company has begun to vigorously develop its technologies related to laser cutting, welding, marking and engraving. 40000W laser sources can be currently found in their offer. The company has set a goal to become a pioneer in the manufacture of high-capacity industrial lasers.
Fiber optics connecting the welding gun with the laser source allows the operator to work freely at multiple workstations. Small heat affected zone prevents from severe distortions. The weld is applied in a short time achieving proper and strong joint between materials.
Intended use
The laser welder is designed for professional use in workshops and plants where high welding quality and aesthetics are required.
Laser source output power: 1000 W
Carbon steel: up to 3 mm
Stainless steel: up to 3 mm
Aluminum: 2 mm
Brass: 0,8 – 1 mm
Laser source output power: 1500 W
Carbon steel: up to 4 mm
Stainless steel: up to 4 mm
Aluminum: 3 mm
Brass: 1 mm
Laser source output power: 2000 W
Carbon steel: up to 5 mm
Stainless steel: up to 5 mm
Aluminum: 4 mm
Brass: 2 mm
Laser source output power: 3000 W
Carbon steel: up to 8 mm
Stainless steel: up to 8 mm
Aluminum: 7 mm
Principle of operation
The laser welder melts down the welding wire together with material edges by means of a laser beam. After switching on and setting up the unit, the welding gun is positioned at the beginning of the future weld line. Then, by pressing the trigger of the welding gun, the beam is generated at the fiber laser source located inside the housing. The beam propagates along the optical fiber to the laser head. The beam is focused and emitted toward the welding wire, which is fed by a wire feeder and toward a location where the gun has been placed. After the trigger is pulled, the head should be pulled along the weld line according to the wire feed rate.
The cooling system maintains a constant temperature for the gun and the laser source by means of a water recirculation system. Radiation level and cooling are managed using a controller that adjusts the parameter values according to the user’s parameter settings.
